Jim DiGriz, after an unsuccessful break-in at a mint, is sentenced to death. He is saved by his court appointed lawyer who rescues him. The lawyer then blackmails him into a job of recovering an alien artifact that was lost. Disguised as a rock-and-roll musician, he begins a journey to save his own skin.
